Biography

Both as an orchestral musician and an avid performer of contemporary music, saxophonist Amy Schumacher is making a name for herself in multiple arenas of the musical world. She has performed in the annual Focus! Concert Series with the New Juillard Ensemble, and is regularly engaged with the contemporary ensemble TACTUS. Amy has also performed in the Bang on a Can Marathon as part of New York’s River-to-River Festival. An active champion of 20th-century music, Miss Schumacher regularly collaborates with up-and-coming composers, promoting new works for the saxophone. She has premiered works with the Yale composers’ group, IGIGI and performs frequently in Manhattan Composers’ Concerts. Amy Schumacher’s studies have been sponsored by a generous grant from the Manhattan School of Music, where she currently pursues her Master’s degree.
